Introduction

Aiva (aiva.family) is an AI virtual assistant for families. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

Information we collect

We collect the following information to provide and improve our service:

  • Name

  • Personal preferences (e.g. dietary preferences, allergies, meal planning settings)

  • Messages and requests you send to the assistant

We use this information to run the assistant, coordinate your family, provide calendar summaries, plan meals, and respond to your requests.

How we use your information

We use the information above to operate the service: to power the shared assistant, generate calendar summaries, suggest meals, perform research and lookups, send calendar invites, and support features like SMS messaging. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

  • OpenAI — AI model powering the assistant (messages and requests you send are processed by OpenAI's API)

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies solely to manage your authentication session. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Data retention and security

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove or anonymize your data in line with our retention practices.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the GDPR (including the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority). If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and to opt out of its sale (we do not sell your data). You can manage your account and preferences in the app; for other requests, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service where reasonably practicable. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
